Case Studies: Community Preservation and Development Corporation
The Challenge
Community Preservation and Development Corporation (CPDC), a non-profit organization located in Washington DC, is a leader in the affordable housing industry. CPDC needed a web site that reflected the company’s standing as a leader in their industry and engaged viewers. They needed a website that not only explained what they did and how they did it, but also invited community leaders, partners, investors, volunteers, and residents to work with CPDC in their projects and to further their mission to develop vibrant communities through innovation and partnerships. CPDC was looking for a new design and development company to consult with them about all aspects of their web site. They also were looking for a company that could help them with print and other marketing projects as well.
The CWS Solution
Working closely with CPDC staff, CWS consulted on and produced all aspects of CPDC's web site: organization and planning, creation of the site map and navigational structure, content creation & editing, design & development, and the creation of a content management system through which CPDC could maintain the site content. The process involved numerous steps and project milestones. CWS developed a site outline and navigational structure. We then conducted interviews with key CPDC personnel regarding their areas of expertise and aspects of the web site that they were assigned to cover. We wrote and edited the content for the web site. Once the content was completed and approved, CWS began the design process for the web site and developed the site content management system.
CWS's relationship with CPDC has continued to grow. Once the initial web site project was completed and launched, CPDC hired CWS to design numerous other projects – from brochures to presentation folders and printed inserts to individual web sites for each of CPDC's properties. CWS has designed and implemented a cohesive look and feel for CPDC's marketing materials - from web to print.
